More than weather
This site started with the weather. It grew into everything I love about living in southern Alberta.
When I set out to build Lethbridge Weather, I wanted it to be much more than a forecast. The weather here touches everything we do: the garden, the camping trip, the bike ride, the drive to Calgary. So alongside the weather, I’ve added the things I care about and have spent years learning.
I’ve been watching Lethbridge weather from my own station since 2007. I’ve been a ham radio operator since 1995, a Scout leader, a gardener, a camper, an RVer and an e-bike rider. I’m also a grandpa who takes the grandkids camping every summer. Every section below comes out of one of those passions.
Take a look around. I hope you find something here you didn’t expect.

The weather, explained
What should I wear?
Dress right for the wind, the cold and the sun, using live readings from my station.
Growing things
Grow It Here
I grew up on a five-acre acreage, and gardening has been part of my life ever since. What grows here, when to plant, and a live frost watch.
Farm Country
The irrigation, crops, cattle, dairy, hogs, poultry and bison that make southern Alberta work.
Getting outside
Camping
Tents, trailers, gear and where to go. I take all six grandkids camping every year, so there’s plenty on camping with kids.
RV Living
I spend most summers in a fifth wheel on a seasonal site. Seasonal, full-time, snowbird and four-season RV life.
Cycling and E-Bikes
I ride my e-bike all over the city, often 20 to 30 km at a time. Choosing a bike, local paths and the rules of the road.
Outdoor Skills
Knots, bushcraft, sharpening and geocaching. The kind of things a Scout leader never stops teaching.

My other passion has its own site: getting your licence, antennas, satellites and emergency communications.
Being ready
For the kids, and for fun
Kids’ Corner
Science experiments, scavenger hunts, badges and a reading list. It’s built with my own grandkids in mind, using only trusted sources.
